Using secure passwords and being wary of suspicious messages helps keep your banking details better protected.
Financial institutions are increasingly developing stricter security protocols to protect our money from possible cybercriminals. However, it is important to keep in mind that, in many cases, guaranteeing the maximum security of our banking data depends above all on ourselves. Therefore, we offer you the following tips so that you can act in an entirely responsible manner and without weakening the security of your accounts when operating through a connected device.
Tips for protecting your money
-
Properly manage your passwords
To keep your passwords from falling in the wrong hands, it is crucial for you to periodically change them and use a different one for each account, making sure they are as strong as possible (for example, creating passwords at least 8 digits long). Remember not to write down your passwords in any physical location; to avoid this, there are password management programmes available so we no longer have to memorise them.
It is also important to never share your passwords with anyone else to prevent them from being compromised. Banco Sabadell, for example, will never ask you for this information. For this reason, do not share any password or confidential data, such as transaction keys or card details (PIN, CVV or numbering), even if the sending party appears to identify itself as Banco Sabadell. We will never request this information from you by email, app or phone.

Keep a close eye on your security
Always check the information on the most recent login to your online banking on the Banco Sabadell website. Remember to always use email in secure mode and distrust emails that come from unfamiliar sites or those containing incoherent information.
Whenever possible, avoid entering your password or starting an online banking session in public computers or internet connections and never ask your regular browser to store your password.
-
Keep your devices protected and updated
Make sure to always keep your mobile phone’s operating system and apps updated. Accordingly, don't install apps from unknown sources and only download them from official and certified sites, such as Google Play Store or the App Store.
To prevent malware from being uploaded, install an antivirus both on your computer and your phone and activate a firewall to control internet communications. Also remember that mobile phones have an ever expanding range of blocking options, such as the digital fingerprint, password patterns, facial recognition or Face ID in the case of the iPhone...

Be very careful when shopping online
When making online purchases, only go to portals which have a padlock in the browser bar. For greater security, deactivate your card for Internet payments via the Banco Sabadell app whenever you want. To do this, view “your cards”, select the one you want to switch off, and in the bottom menu, within “Settings”, you will find the option “Do you want to use your card online?”.
If you suspect your card data has been stolen, you can block it by logging into your remote banking in this link.

Make sure you are on the bank’s website
When you access your online account, make sure that the website you are connecting to is https:// and not https://. To do this, look carefully at the address and if it begins with https, it will have a padlock. When you click on the padlock, check that the address is written correctly.
